The weekend of 11th May, 2019 was the start of my Mam’s 73rd birthday celebrations, so as an extra special treat, I planned a fashionable weekend in London for us both to enjoy! Little did I know at the time that I’d also be buying my dream shoes whilst I was there, but I’ll come to that in a second! This is the first of three posts all about our stay, so here it is A Dior Weekend In London Part One: Wedding Shoes.
A Dior Weekend In London
So for my Mam’s birthday, we planned to visit the Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition (and the Mary Quant exhibition) at the Victoria and Albert Museum and have the amazing Dior Prêt á Portea afternoon tea at the Berkeley in Knightsbridge (these will feature in later posts). But as time elapsed between me booking the trip and us going on it, my wedding plans went from non-existent to full steam ahead! You may remember from a previous post that I was struggling to find a dress to wear (here) for my wedding, but since then I’ve got that sorted and needed to find the perfect pair of shoes to seal the deal. And what better place to go for wedding shoes than Dior?!
Dior (Superbrands), Harrods
After previously having great buying experiences at Harrods, I decided to go there for my shoe try on, and boy did I make the right choice! Harrods’ Dior Womenswear is located in the Superbrands section of the store. Within minutes of arriving, I was sitting in the middle of the beautiful Dior-grey surroundings, amongst all the perfect fashion, waiting to try on my shoes!
After trying two sizes, I was happy that my 38s fit just fine. Before I knew it, I was sealing the deal with a glass of champagne! My Mam and I sipped fizz and celebrated the purchase together, in an area that they closed off just for us and told us to take our time and enjoy our experience. I decided to check out the latest collections, and build a wish list as long as my arm!
We were then offered some water before I went to make my purchase. I’m a huge fan of the Dior couture scents, and my shoes were lovingly wrapped and sprayed with one of the new scents ‘Lucky’ made from Lily of the Valley, Mr Dior’s favourite flower. The staff were so lovely and super helpful, I’m so glad that I visited Harrods to buy my shoes!
J’adior my new shoes!
So I know you’ll all be wondering which shoes I chose? Well wonder no more!
I opted for the technical canvas J’adior shoes in black, and they are the comfiest heels I’ve ever worn! (You may remember I featured them in leather as part of my wishlist from my last post here.) Trying them on, my heart was all a flutter; and wearing them is like walking on air! Thanks to the lovely staff at Dior, Harrods for making the experience everything I’ve ever dreamed of and to my lovely Dad for buying them for me for my wedding! I can’t wait to wear my dream shoes when I marry my dream man!
I hope one day I get to have the Dior experience all over again, but for now I’ll settle for the wonderful memories and look forward to my wedding day!
Until next time,
